Coral Reef Restoration and Education Program

Restoring marine ecosystems and empowering communities through innovative coral restoration and environmental education

The Tres Marias Coral Reef Restoration and Education Project seeks not only to bring the ecosystem services in a water circulate area "Tres Marias" a community of Palawan, and Caalan bay post-recovery phase through coral reef restoration direct planting. As a community education component, involving the Women in IEC Area, the probability had the scarcity of sea turtle in the nature.

The Tres Marias is a highly utilized reef ecosystem near coastal barangays in the municipality of El Nido, Palawan. This portion of the reef has a vast area of coral rubble left by the destructive use of dynamite and drag-net fishing. Currently, these reclaimed sand and small coral fragments cannot support a coral reef ecosystem at its best because of a lack of hard substrates.
